St. James Hotel - Paris

Located in the 16th Arr., The St. James is the only château-style hôtel in Paris. Nestled in a lush green setting you would almost forget you’re right in the center of Paris and only a mere stone’s throw from the Arc de Triomphe and Avenue Victor Hugo. This stunning but small “mini château” only has 48 rooms including 20 Junior Suites, 11 full sized Suites and two Pavilion rooms, which stand alone located at the entrance of the main building (each with their own built in Turkish style hammams!

Great Northern Hotel - St. Pancras, London

Hotels these days are really pushing the boundaries in terms of offering more services, outlandish design and mechanized service. I’m glad to say that Great Northern Hotel holds their standards to a high point, without sacrificing anything in the process. Now I know this might be getting a bit too far off base on semantics for an introduction. Yet, I’ve visited plenty of hotels of late where the staff seems terrified of the management (and thusly, me), hotels where I can get a loan for a new house with the remote on my TV and hotels where I feel like I need to know how to play a Theremin just to run the water.

Jumeirah Carlton Tower - London

You really should do this more often, old chap. Sipping a glass of champagne in your classically luxurious room at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower, you contemplate dinner at the hotel’s venerable Rib Room, famous for its Aberdeen Angus beef. Is there time to pop into the Victoria and Albert Museum or wander through Hyde Park? Of course - they’re both minutes away. With 218 rooms and suites on 18 floors, chic Jumeirah Carlton Tower offers commanding views of Central London.

The Chamberlain Hotel - West Hollywood

The Chamberlain Hotel is an all-suite boutique hotel with a fashionable West Hollywood address. Tucked away on a quaint street and stylishly decorated in a mix of antique-inspired and modern furnishings, this hotel has a private home feel with a location close to Hollywood attractions such as the Walk of Fame and Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. The Hollywood Sign and Griffith Observatory are nearby in the beautiful Hollywood Hills. Location Chamberlain is two blocks from the inspiring Sunset Strip and one mile from Beverly Hills.

Carmel Valley Ranch - Carmel

My only regret about visiting Carmel Valley Ranch was that I arrived at night. That meant no grand visual welcome to the resort as soon as I rolled through the gate — manicured green golf course, lavender bushes, acres of trees in the distance, maybe even a deer sighting. That is how a visitor is meant to first experience the property, but because I got to this central California destination, just a few miles inland of Monterey, after the sun had gone down, I would have to wait until the next morning to fully appreciate how much the property has to offer.

The Maidstone Inn - East Hampton

Upon arrival at c/o The Maidstone it is hard to escape the glorious impression of the luxury Scandinavian décor. The imagination and immaculately conceived color scheme lend to the venue an electric atmosphere, the same attention to detail is exuded by the charming staff. Integral to The Maidstone’s appeal, is the manner in which every room and cottage are carefully presented with an individual theme, each honoring an illustrious Scandinavian personality.

Crosby Street New York

“Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” The White Queen- Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There If Alice fell down the rabbit hole and landed in a luxury hotel, she’d end up at the Crosby Street Hotel in SoHo (SOuth of HOuston St.). An eclectic mix of modern and traditional, Crosby Street is utterly charming on so many levels. Owned and operated by the Firmdale Hotels based out of London, the Crosby Street Hotel is the first in the States and has only been open since October 2009.

The Kimberly Hotel - Midtown

On a recent trip to New York City, we had the pleasure of staying at the Kimberly Hotel, a luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Manhattan. It has recently made Conde Nast Traveler’s Gold List 2013. I’ve always preferred boutique over large corporate chain hotels because I love to appreciate the beauty and character in the details. The details at the Kimberly hotel were all about European flair, lucky me.

The Paramount Hotel – NYC

Paramount Hotel, is one of the coolest Midtown Manhattan hotels where I’ve stayed so far. Times Square can be tricky if you are looking for a tasteful place, but with Paramount you just need to step inside to understand you are in a special hotel. The atmosphere of the lobby is romantic, grown-up and very relaxing. Highlights: a gigantic Art Deco luster, classic table lamps that bring back the quietness of an old-school library and naked trees with flower balls on it.

The London - NYC

The London NYC Hotel offers luxury, all-suite accommodations right in the heart of Manhattan. Located just over a few blocks from Grand Central Station, the hotel caters to experienced business and leisure travelers. Whether you are in New York for an event at Madison Square Garden or need convenient access to the United Nations, Chrysler or Empire State Buildings, The London is an option. Located in Midtown Manhattan, the hotel is just steps from the Museum of Modern Art, Rockefeller Center and Carnegie Hall.
