STK Milan

The cool american kid just conquered Milan and is spicing things up in the beautiful but sometimes too quiet town. Located inside the brand new ME Milan Il Duca, STK is all about flattering dim lights, loungelike decòr, friendly yet professional service combined with delicious food (mouth watering meat as well as tasty fish and much more). The “soundtrack” tailor made by the uber dj Sam Young, the superb drinks and impressive wine list attract a designer clad, international crowd on a nightly basis.

Flair at the Ritz Pudong - Shanghai

Flair is Shanghai’s latest and greatest bar with a magnificent view. It’s brought to you by the new Ritz Carlton in Pudong, and perched on the 58th floor of the new IFC tower the luxury hotel occupies. The real kicker is the split-level outdoor terrace with views directly across to the big ball of the Pearl Tower, and then beyond to the Bund, the Hongkou shore, and the downtown Puxi. The cocktails are delicious and you can find a variety of delicious small plates, sushi and sashimi here.

The Abbey - West Hollywood

I thought I had been to the Abbey, but when I arrived at the Abbey the other night for dinner, I realized that I was mistaken. What I remembered about the Abbey was a tiny little patio with coffee and pastries. This Abbey, in the heart of West Hollywood, is said to be “the BEST gay bar in America”. A veritable Mecca for the LGBT community in Southern California. Apparently, people come from all over the place to get loaded on their super strong mojitos and plentiful martinis, dance the night away, and most importantly, flirt with all the super studly (and shirtless) bartenders.

Ivan Kane's Café Wa S - Hollywood

By Bob Schriner Stepping into Ivan Kane’s Café Wa s instantly makes one forget they’re at Sunset and Vine. Upon entry my pupils were immediately dilated by the vast space and quickly contracted to take in small details and decorations. The interior pairs French traditional with eclectic in a strangely compelling way that makes absurdity of it all seem enviable. There is grand stairway leading to nothing, paintings cut in half and a room wallpapered in pages torn from Charles Bukowski books.

The Elgin - London

By Jessica Ainlay This is the story of the re-birth of a London pub, re-furbished and raring to go… It all started back in 2007. For four short but glorious months of my life, I had a flat in Notting Hill. Well, not exactly in Notting Hill but right up the road. Each day, I would walk up Ladbroke Grove enjoying the Edwardian and Victorian architecture you find lining the streets, people watching as the yummy mummies with their Hummer-sized prams (British English for ‘strollers’) power-walked past me to be home in time for supper.

Alcazar Restaurant & Mezzanine, Paris

Alcazar is a bright and wonderfully stylish eatery and nightclub with an interesting history. Located right off the St. Germain-Des-Près on a small but buzzing street and set in a 17th century tennis court, Alcazar was also once home to a notorious transvestite bar and nightclub. The former club next door was the infamous “Rock ‘N Roll Circus” nightclub which is known as the last place Jim Morrison was seen partying before he passed away on the same evening.

L'Etoile - A Star is Reborn in Paris

Forget what you knew and open your mind. From the moment you enter L’Etoile you are transported into an ambient atmosphere of relaxation. The lighting seems to be the main ingredient with blue and rose lights softly playing off the white linens and modern clean lines. The bar is a comfortable lounge with soft music perfect for conversation as you enjoy your aperitif. We’re seated in front of a large window with a clear view of the Arc de Triumph which seems to be 50 feet away.
