The Greenwich Hotel in Tribeca (partially owned by Robert Di Niro) is one of my absolute favorite places to stay when in this part of town. Entering the lobby from the hustle and bustle of the NYC streets seems like stepping into pure Zen. Zen with hot bell boys. The rooms are luxurious with wooden floors, enormous beds that make you feel like the queen of Saba and bathrooms with exotic tiles that add a divine touch of Marrakesh to the otherwise très East Coast style hotel. The lounge slash bar is super elegant in the same old school New England style as the rest of the hotel. Classy yet rock star. If you visit during the fall do yourself a favor and cuddle up in front of the fireplace in the lounge with hot cocoa. It's like traveling back in time. Or if you plan your visit during Summer, sip your Chablis in the cute little court yard between flowers and trees.

My favorite part of the hotel though, is the pool area. I’m usually not a big fan of indoor pools. They make me claustrophobic. But this pool is like stepping into a deluxe Spa in India. I didn’t want to leave. Next door to the pool is the gym with showers, steam room and sauna. If you like to stay in shape, but you are not necessarily a gym rat (like yours truly) I strongly recommend you try the Power Plate in the gym. It will do the job in half the time. yes, I have abs and it’s not because I run 3 miles everyday. Gym and abs aside, my experience in this Tribeca spot was memorable and super classy. It’s the perfect sanctuary in The Triangle Below Canal.
