San Francisco Hotels Kensington, Union Square and Diva Hotel
1 min

I have stayed at a few great hotels in my travels around the world but none have compared to the Kensington Park Hotel and Hotel Diva and Hotel Union Square hotels in San Francisco. Each hotel had a unique perspective and style, making them a very original experience that greatly enhanced our stay in San Francisco and I highly recommend them for the design and style conscious traveller.

Kensington Park HotelKensington Park Hotel is located in the heart of Union Square where all the shopping and nightlife starts and also near a lot of theatre. The lobby and rooms have a lot of style and were very clean. Exuding historic San Francisco charm, the stylish lobby featured hand-painted ceilings, mosaic tile and classic Queen Anne antiques accented by crystal chandeliers.

Hotel Union SquareHotel Union Square is right on the famous Powell cable car line. Right out our window we could see the cable car going by and hear the rumble of the train as it rolls down the street. The hotel room was very clean and was a perfect San Francisco experience right down to the classic walls and fixtures. We felt like we were truly somewhere unique. Built in 1913 for the 1915 Pan Pacific Exposition, Hotel Union Square is a visually stimulating fusion of contemporary and classic San Francisco - beautiful brick walls, original 1915 Egyptian-motif mosaic murals, signature staircases, and opulent moldings are complemented by a rich color palate, sleek furnishings from EQ3, remodeled bathrooms, and state-of-the-art technology that caters to both leisure and business travelers.

Hotel Union Square was designed by San Francisco-based Interior Designer Riley Johndonnell. In 2013 the hotel lobby and the penthouse suites were renovated by Johnathan Rachman. Lisa Compagno designed the Dashiell Hammett Suite. Infused with the colors of San Francisco, the striking guestrooms feature bursts of crimson (reflective of the Golden Gate Bridge), soothing shades of grey (reminiscent of the native fog) and earthy taupe to incorporate San Francisco’s natural setting. Meticulously designed to give the feel of a sophisticated urban apartment, rooms are outfitted with platform beds with custom-made cream tufted leather headboards and luxurious 300-thread count linens.

Hotel DivaHotel Diva is truly the unique San Francisco experience. If you love fashion and design you will love this place. One of the coolest features was the Diva Sidewalk of Fame which has all the signatures of past celebrity guests. The hotel was renovated recently so it has a great clean and modern feel to an old sophisticated san francisco building. We especially loved the starbucks in the building and the Michelin rated Colibri Mexican Bistro next door for it's homemade quacamole and margaritas. Try the mole poblano wow!
