Located at the very heart of the Stags Leap District, the original Stags’ Leap Winery (established in 1893) continues a proud winemaking heritage in the prestigious appellation that bears the winery name. An intimate valley within the greater Napa Valley, Stags’ Leap is a place of natural beauty, storied buildings, a lively history, and a reputation for elegant wines showing finesse and intensity. Framed by the dramatic palisades to the east, the 240 acre property is planted to 90 acres of vineyards. Erosion from the palisades is the source of the estate’s volcanic and alluvial soils, acknowledged as a contributing factor to the region’s reputation for Cabernet Sauvignon. Paying attention to this gift, understanding and working with its potential, lies at the heart of winemaking on this historic estate.
Leap Estate Cabernet 2008

The expectation is high from the Stag’s Leap vineyards and with it comes a high degree of anticipation. This is a deep-colored, rich wine that invites a tryst with the bouquet. One’s olfactory senses are immediately aroused by an array of vivid aromas of red and black fruit characteristic of the Stag’s Leap terrior. Freshly picked strawberries followed by hints of blackberry and blueberry mingles with notes of vanilla, clove and a strong background of anise. The total impression is multi-layered and complex prodding the desire to experience the wine. The palate is not disappointed as it is greeted by a very balanced mixture of silky tannins and a variety of intimations of leather, chocolate and espresso. Its full flavor and tannin does not come at the expense of the natural acidity. This wine lives up to expectations and is a truly rewarding experience.

Stag’s Leap Petite Sirah

This wine’s bouquet is impressive as it exhibits rich aromatics of blueberry, blackberry and cocoa. All in all a wonderful introduction for what is to come. The palate welcomes a creamy blend of black fruit, espresso and spice. It is an exquisite balance of tannins and berry flavors and just a hint of oak suggesting aging in the cask. Big and bold taste yet very structured. Very smooth and silky to the last drop. This Petite Sirah is truly a delightful wine suitable for everyday consumption or for serving to company with discriminating taste in wine.
